Skill Builder Pistol Course
Course Overview
If you’re looking to build your handgun skills with any semi-automatic pistol, particularly focusing on stoppage exercises and drills, this is your training class! The class is limited to 2 students with a class time of 3 hours. The class is taught entirely at the range. There is no classroom instruction.
Prerequisite: Pistol 101 or 102 or proof of equivalent training. This IS NOT A CLASS FOR BEGINNERS OR NEW SHOOTERS. We will evaluate your pistol handling skills prior to beginning the coursework.
Range Location: East End Gun Club, Milton Freewater, OR
Total Classroom Size: Maximum 2 students
Total Time: 3 Hours total on the range.
What we’ll cover:
Refinement of Stoppage and Malfunction Drills
- Failure to fire
- Stovepipe Malfunction
- Double Feed malfunction
Live Fire Exercises
- Administrative, Emergency and Tactical Reloads
- Fundamental Drills
- Controlled pairs
- Multiple targets
What to bring:
- Your personal semi-automatic handgun (and a backup if you have one).
- 300 rounds of ammunition.
- At least (3) three magazines.
- Appropriate Belt and OWB Belt-style holster with at least two magazine pouches
- Ballcap, closed toe footwear and a high collar shirt. No low-cut shirts please, hot brass can occasionally go down your shirt!
- Eye & Ear Protection – Eye protection and Electronic hearing protection is REQUIRED.

Pricing: $125.00 per student
- Pistol Rental: Available with advance notice. The rental cost is $10. Three magazines are included. Factory ammunition must be used in our pistols. You are free to purchase the ammunition on your own or we can provide at current market price.
- Registration must be completed and payment made in full for all courses. Course fees are non-refundable*.
- *Courses are subject to cancellation based on enrollment/range issues. In the event of cancellation, refunds will be issued.
